IPOS offers weekly complimentary IP Legal Clinics and IP Business Clinics.
The IP Legal Clinic serves Singapore citizens or Permanent residents and/or Singapore registered businesses.
Since 24 February 2025, the IP Business Clinic's 45-minute complimentary consultations are available via GoBusiness IP Grow, an online Intangible Asset (IA) and Intellectual Property (IP) service marketplace. This change brings wider accessibility, as the service is now open to both local and international individuals and enterprises.
IP Legal Clinic
The IP Legal Clinic provides Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents, and/or Singapore registered businesses with access to a consultation session with a professional IP lawyer. Through a one-time 45-minute clinic session, you can seek preliminary advice on potential intellectual property (IP) issues such as handling of a cease and desist letter; or dispute matters including IP infringement, opposition, invalidation and revocation, allowing you to explore your options before deciding on the next course of action.
While requestors are responsible for the law firm’s fees, IPOS provides financial assistance. IPOS will disburse payment directly to the law firms on behalf of the requestor, subject to meeting stipulated requirements.

Maw Jiun is a senior partner in Dentons Rodyk’s Intellectual Property & Technology practice. He co-heads the Patents, Data Privacy & Protection and Cybersecurity practices. His areas of practice encompass worldwide registration of intellectual property, infringement and counterfeiting actions, commercial litigation involving intellectual property, commercialization of intellectual property rights (such as licensing and assignment agreements).
Maw Jiun’s IP litigation experience includes copyright suits, trademark infringements and revocation, patent infringement and breach of confidentiality cases. He has represented a variety of clients (including global pharmaceuticals, a Japanese semi-conductor packaging company, tobacco manufacturers and local enterprises) at various levels including the Singapore Trade Mark Registry, the Singapore High Court and the Singapore Court of Appeal. He also has extensive experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, RFPs and tenders in relation to IT.

Elaine Lew is a partner in Dentons Rodyk's Intellectual Property & Technology practice group. She co-heads the Copyright/Designs and Tech, Media & Telecomms practices. Her practice ranges from intellectual property protection, prosecution and enforcement to general counselling on the acquisition, management, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights. She has particular expertise in advising in the area of trademarks and also dealt with issues resulting to the ownership, transfer and/or exploitation rights in the works of employees and consultants, outsourced vendors, co-authors and joint venture partners. She is also well-versed in drafting and reviewing agreements for franchising, distribution, sponsorship, trademark co-existence, software development, Internet usage, and electronic commerce transactions in a wide variety of industries.

Chi Duan specialises in general civil and commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on intellectual property. She represents clients from a wide range of industries in civil and criminal proceedings before the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore and the Singapore Courts for the protection and enforcement of various forms of intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyright, designs and patents.
She is also an accredited Associate Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.
Chi Duan graduated with a LL.B (Hons.) from the National University of Singapore in 1996 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in May 1997.

Chua Shang Li is a Partner in the Intellectual Property Practice of Donaldson & Burkinshaw LLP. Shang Li manages the intellectual property portfolios of both local and international clients, and undertakes advisory work related to trade marks, passing off, copyright and industrial designs, including clearance searches, filing, prosecution, maintenance and commercialisation of rights.
He also actively represents clients in the protection and enforcement of their rights and regularly undertakes opposition, invalidation and revocation proceedings before the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore and the Courts.
Shang Li graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2005 with an LL.B (Hons.). He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2007.

Siew Hong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1986 with an LLB (Hons) (Upper Class Division) and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 1988. Siew Hong has more than two decades of experience in both civil and criminal litigation. He has advised on all aspects of infringement, anti-counterfeiting and litigation options in Singapore as well as around the ASEAN region.
Siew Hong had represented major trade mark owners and most recently in 2023, he won a major victory in the case of Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc v Zyfas Medical Co, which concerns the infringement of certain patents over a major anti-cancer drug. Siew Hong is a Member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law, Counsel to The Law Society of Singapore, Member of the Disciplinary Committees of the Supreme Court of Singapore and Adjunct Teacher on Advocacy at the Practical Law Course.

Wendy is the co-head of the intellectual property (IP), technology and dispute department of Eldan Law LLP. Previously, she was a partner with Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP, one of the largest law firms in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Wendy has been profiled as one of the “50 IP Litigators You Should Know” in the Asia Pacific region (Asia IP, September 2013) and as IP Star by Managing IP in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Her views on IP issues had also been featured in Reuters, Channel NewsAsia, Business Times and Asia IP.
Some of the cases which have been reported in the media include acting for the plaintiff in Elbow Holdings Pte Ltd v Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd [2014] SGHC 26 in having Marina Bay Sands’ discovery appeal dismissed notwithstanding their objection that the documents requested concern state secret under the Official Secrets Act, and for Japanese anime copyright owners in pre-action discovery applications against Internet Service Providers and copyright infringement claims against BitTorrent downloaders.

Genevieve was admitted to the Singapore Bar in September 2014, with her principal area of practice in commercial dispute resolution. Her calm demeanour belies her dynamism and passion for her work.

Kar Liang is the Managing Director of Ella Cheong LLC, and his practice encompasses intellectual property and information technology law. His clientele ranges from high-tech microprocessors to consumer food and beverage industries.
Kar Liang also serves concurrently as a domain name panellist of the Regional Arbitration Centre of Kuala Lumpur and a principal mediator of the Singapore Mediation Centre. Called to the Singapore Bar in 2021, Wen Rui is an associate of Ella Cheong LLC. Wen Rui was formerly a shipping lawyer before moving into intellectual property practice in a regional context across Southeast Asia.

George Hwang is a distinguished IP/IT and Media lawyer with over two decades of experience in Singapore and internationally. Mr Ng Kim Tean is the Executive Chairman of Nanyang Law LLC, a member of Nanyang Asia Network with offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Mr Ng’s area of expertise includes intellectual property law; his many years of hands-on experience have exposed him to all aspects of intellectual property in Singapore and various foreign countries. His other primary areas of practice are equity capital markets, fund management, corporate restructurings, commercial and company laws.

Edina is a senior associate in Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP.
